Ronald Gene Jessen passed away at his home in Fenton, Missouri on April 7, 2025 at age 90. Ronald is survived by his daughter, Paula Medley (Ken) and granddaughter, Paige Melcher (Aaron). He is also survived by niece, Bonnie Richards and her son D.J. Richards. He is preceded in death by wife, Joyce (nee Treuel); parents, Chriss Jessen and Bessie Jessen (nee Smith); siblings, Robert Jessen (Frankie) and Leona Dempsey (Billy); and nieces, Connie Parks and Roberta Stahlman.
Ronald served with the Army in Korea as a Field Artillery Crewman with the Heavy Mortar Battle Group 17th Infantry. Thirty five years of his life were spent at Cupples Products Corporation in St. Louis as a saw operator. He cut glass for buildings including the World Trade Center in New York, the Air Force Academy in Colorado and the Sears Tower in Chicago. He also worked many years at Dierberg’s in Fenton. He would joke that he was going to retire at age 80, and that was exactly what he did. He loved to fish and hunt (especially mushrooms) and take pictures. He spent many hours visiting Lone Elk Park, feeding the raccoons and checking on the elk and deer. He has named all the elk. In younger years, he was an avid bowler and participated in many tournaments and had 3 perfect 300 games. His late wife, Joyce, and he were members of a walking club and walked many miles across the country. He loved Mizzou football and there were no plans made if the game was on television. In recent years, he spent a considerable amount time with his ex-wife, Rosemary, who was a wonderful companion and caretaker to him. A loving father, grandfather and a friend to many, we will miss his robust sense of humor, wisdom and stories. Gathering at Fey Funeral Home on Monday, April 28 at 11:45 a.m. then to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery for a graveside service with military honors at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be mailed to Lone Elk Park Donations, 550 Weidman Road, St. Louis, MO 63011, or put in drop box at entrance of Lone Elk Park.
