Robert Schmeer Obituary

Robert John Schmeer, of Ballwin, MO, left this earthly life on Saturday, December 11, 2021, after declining health following a stroke two months prior. Father of Matthew (Karen) Schmeer, Erica Jay, Gregory (Erin) Schmeer, and Michael (Jenna) Schmeer. Former husband to Anne Termine, Sara (nee English) Crook, and the late Julie (nee Stobbe) Smith.  Beloved son of the late Paul J. Schmeer, Sr. and the late Genevieve M. (nee Dunlap) Schmeer. Beloved brother of Larry (Mary) Schmeer, Jeanne (Drew) Reese, Paul (Fran) Schmeer, Edd (Bill) Schmeer, and the late David Schmeer. Grandfather of 12 and dear uncle, cousin, and friend of many.

Robert was a Navy veteran having served four years, including a deployment aboard the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War. He was a skilled carpenter, electrician, and mechanic and found success in the field of mechanical maintenance during his working years. He was beloved by many friends, family, and co-workers throughout the changing phases of his life.

He also had addiction and mental health issues which broke many of his relationships and ultimately broke him. In later life, he sought peace in the addiction recovery community, with several close friends professing that he helped save them from their demons. He also found solace in bonding with his service dog, Zeke.
