Robert Edward Gruver passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the age of 51 after a valiant battle with cancer that he fought with the strength of a warrior.
Robert grew up in Fenton, MO and graduated from South County Technical School, focusing on small engine repair. While there, he was the captain of his soccer team and Vice President of his class. After high school, he worked for a machine shop, repairing lawn equipment and mowers, and then he went on to work for the St. Louis Moolah Shriners for 28 years, a job he dearly loved alongside people he was truly fond of in so many ways.
Robert is survived by his mother, Michelle Gruver, and his sister, Lanette Imig (Mark), as well as his niece Ashten Young (Brandon) and his nephew, Eric Witzel. Most recently, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey Gruver, who also had a similar cancer diagnosis. He was also preceded in death by his father, Michael Gruver, Sr., and his brother, Micheal Gruver Junior, as well as his grandparents on both sides of the family. He was and will always be a beloved son, brother, grandson, uncle, cousin and friend.
In keeping with Robert’s wishes, there are no public services planned. The family requests that In lieu of flowers or gifts that you simply help someone who needs it, or reach out to a family whose loved one is struggling with cancer. You can also consider a memorial gift to Mercy Health Foundation, The American Cancer Society, or Shriners Children’s St. Louis.
