Richard (Dick) Moersch Obituary

Richard (Dick) Moersch died peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Saturday, January 27, 2024. The son of late Margret (Mast) and Elroy Moersch; stepson of late Opal (West) Moersch. Richard is survived by his best friend and beloved wife of nearly 73 years, LaVerne Kassebaum Moersch; the beloved father of Craig (Lila) & Dean Moersch; grandfather to Erika (Nick) Wall and Christopher Moersch; step-grandfather to Ehren (Laura) Leonberger, Patrick (Elise) Leonberger, and Kathleen Tobin; step-great-grandfather to Lidi and Henri Leonberger and Marley Tobin; beloved brother of Ronald (Connie) Moersch; step-brother to Glenda Kleine, Robert (late) (Barbara) Ferguson and Arlene Lloyd (late); brother-in-law of Alan and Gayle Uthoff; beloved godfather of Michael O’Keefe; Kim (Chuck) Reitter, Pam (Rick) Nazzoli, and Lynne (Brad) Kamin; the beloved uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Dick and LaVerne were blessed with nearly 73 years of happy marriage. Their shared passions were dancing, music, traveling the U.S., family, church, playing cards, gardening, and spending time with friends. Dick was in the army and served in Korea from 1952-1953. After returning home from service he chose to follow his father in the printing business. He was very involved with their church, St. John’s - volunteering as a youth sponsor, council member, head usher, Sunday morning coffee hour, the rummage sale and so much more. He loved to drive and always gave freely of his time to help friends and family make it to doctor visits, appointments, and airport pick-ups. He adored the family pets and referred to them as his great grandkids. You would be hard pressed to find a more kind, patient, and gentle soul. Dick was always whistling, and later singing! He loved singing along with the visiting guitar player and his evening music. His favorite saying each morning was, “Good Morning, World! What’s in store for us today?”

The family welcomes you to join them for Dick's Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, March 2nd, at St. John's Church - 11333 St. John's Church Road 63123. Visitation will be held from 9 AM until time of service at 11 AM, followed by sweet treats and coffee in the church basement. Private interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following: St. John’s United Church of Christ - Mehlville, Stray Rescue of St. Louis, or Disabled American Veterans.
