Beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Christmas Day, 2024, alongside her cherished long-haired Tortoiseshell cat, Grizabella ("Grizzi"), after a courageous year-long battle with cancer.
Born on September 27, 1956, in Fon du Lac, Wisconsin, Glenna grew up in Park Forest, Illinois. She attended high school in St. Elmo, Illinois, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication, Television, and Radio from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She later pursued a Master of Arts in Communications from Webster University. Glenna spent most of her adult life in St. Louis, Missouri, cultivating a successful career and vibrant personal life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay W. Gossett (1988), and Elizabeth Norton Gossett (1994), her brother Jerry Gossett (2023), and her beloved kitties: Jellico (Jelli) Jennyanydots (Jenni), and Grizabella (Grizzi). Glenna is survived by her precious orange Maine Coon cat, Gus, who is in the loving care of friend and neighbor, Lin Craig, and her loving family: Sisters: Gretchen Gossett Davis (husband Paul) of Arlington, TX, and twin sister Gretta Gossett Beckman (husband Dean) of Teutopolis, IL. Brothers: Jayson Gossett (wife Kim) of Salem, IL, and Jeff Gossett of Effingham, IL. Nieces and Nephews: Mandy Gossett Mason (husband Jake) of Iuka, IL; Kelly Gossett King of Salem, IL; Jessica Beckman Niebrugge (husband Jon) of Teutopolis, IL; Jackelyn Beckman of Effingham, Jake Beckman of Teutopolis, IL; and Danny Rudd (wife Jodie) of Arlington, TX. Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews: Dylann Rosenthal, Adelyn King, Pearl Rudd, Grace Niebrugge, Gavin Berry, Jayden Berry, Evan King, Daniel Rudd, and Logan Niebrugge. Cousin: Lisa Rehm (husband Rick) Leonard (of Bridgeport, OH) and their children Michael Leonard and Elise (husband Sebastian) Luu.
Glenna’s professional life reflected her vibrant spirit and dedication. Her passion for marketing and consumer engagement was evident in her work as a skilled marketing project manager. With a career spanning over 40 years, she held prominent roles at Anheuser-Busch and Daymon Worldwide, among others. Glenna's expertise included project management, branding, advertising, and digital marketing. She was known for her creativity, strong work ethic, and ability to excel in fast-paced environments.
She also volunteered extensively, serving on committees for GO! Network, a nonprofit organization supporting career development and entrepreneurship, volunteering for the Animal Protective Association of MO, and supporting the Humane Society of MO. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Glenna was a gifted copywriter and editor, having lent her talents to many freelance projects including editing R. Bruce Lucas’s novel A Year for Kristine. In her personal life, Glenna was fiercely independent, a compassionate soul who found joy in the company of her cats, her family, and her close friends. Her kindness, wit, and unwavering loyalty will be remembered by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Fey Funeral Home, 4100 Lemay Ferry Rd, St. Louis, MO on January 11, 2025, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Glenna’s memory to Animal Protective Association of MO, the Humane Society of MO, or your local no-kill shelter. Her bright spirit and love will forever remain in our hearts.
