Proud union laborer, Duane Mathis, had a passion for life that will not end in his death. Duane passed away at the age of 58 on June 29, 2023 after courageously facing cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Duane is remembered by his beloved daughters Brandi (Matthew) Dennison and Brittany Mathis, his siblings James Mathis, Christina Nevois (Mathis), John Mathis, and the late Terri Mathis, as well as cousins, nephews, and many close friends. Duane was the youngest son of the late James F. Mathis and Vernette V. Mathis (Ballance).
In lieu of memorial contributions, the family is asking to please consider a donation to the underfunded research at The Salgi Esophageal Cancer Research Foundation in honor of Duane. The celebration of life for Duane will be held at the Gold Star Pavillion in Jefferson Barracks park on July 29, 2023.
