Donald J. Deters

Donald J. Deters, Baptized into the Hope of Christ's Resurrection on May 20, 2025 at age 91.  In his younger years, Don enjoyed being a college athlete and cross country coach and went on to be a school counselor and teacher for many years. He loved agriculture, especially farm and dairy.  Don was also a handyman who designed and built his own family's home.  He was an extremely active member of his church and known and loved by many.  Dear son of the late Aloysius "AJ" John and Eugenia C. Deters (nee Hummel); husband of Geraldine "Gerry" Rose Deters (nee Kertz) for 60 years; father of Mark J. Deters, Diane M. (Brian) Fleetwood, Joseph E. (Courtney Suzanne) Deters, Daniel J. (Elli) Deters, Mary A. (Sean M.) Sweeney, and Madonna A. (Andrew D. Warne) Goldacker; brother of Blandina (Don) Spitznagle, Carolyn (Harry) Henrichsen, Juliana (Elmer) Brown, Claire (Phil) Hayes and the late Aloysius "Al" (Betty) Deters and Michael (Anna) Deters; grandfather of Nicole, Brendan, Adam, Tyler, Alexander, William, Vivian, Abigail, Anneliese and one on the way; great grandfather of Sophie and Freya; uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend of many.  Visitation at Holy Family Parish Center on Saturday, May 24 from 9 a.m. until Mass at 10 a.m. with a graveside service to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.  Donations to Holy Family Parish.  A celebration of life party will be held at the Arnold Knights of Columbus hall from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., with food and drinks provided. All are welcome.
